Good Fortune
Ink on Bristol Paper
art 120 - tavonatti
This design is inspired by my Japanese heritage. The main focus of this piece are the origami cranes which symbolize good fortune and longevity. The other complementary shapes are inspired by traditional Japanese fans. Prayer beads cut across the piece to tie all the elements together. I played with positive and negative space as well as abstracted and simplified shapes of these Japanese inspired items. The paper crane is considered one of the most classic of Japanese origami and an ancient legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish.

Mindfulness
Acrylic on Bristol Paper
art 120 - tavonatti
This piece is a mandala created with the tints, tones, and shades of primary and secondary colors as a unique approach to a color wheel. Mandalas have spiritual meanings, but are also created for its calming effect. Drawing these repeating and balanced patterns create focus and help you to be present in the moment creating mindfulness.

Moving Fins
Reed and Paper Mache
art 121 - stanaway
This organic form was inspired by the dome of a jellyfish and the fins of stingray. I wanted to capture a sense of movement in this piece like the bends and waves of a stingray swimming.
